Growing my Offline Music Library Little By Little
Picked up a couple of CDs the other day. Yeah, I know, I could just stream this stuff. But that's not as much fun. Plus I can listen to these in pretty high quality and whether there's internet or not. Of course, it's a lot more work, but it's worth it.
Crazy to think that laptops used to come with disk drives, but now they're "sold separately". Remember back in the day when you'd see a toy commercial, and they'd be like "Batteries Not Included", or show another toy in the set and be like, "So and so, sold separately." That's everything now haha. Anyway, this is the drive I got. It's not particularly amazing, but it gets the job done for ripping CDs.
I made sure to get one that could play DVDs and Blu Ray too but get this... It can't actually just play Blu Ray because that's a proprietary format owned by Sony. So you have to buy a third party program to be able to do that. And yeah, you gotta pay money so again... "Sold Separately". LMAOOO. Anyway, I got one. Can't remember the name of it right now but it kinda sucks. And it also sucks that you'd have to buy it for every computer you wanna use it on. I don't think they let you get multiple licenses. At least I don't think they do. Whatever.
Here's what I picked up though.
- Journey: Frontiers
- Styx: Brave New World
- Jay-Z: The Dynasty
Kinda random, I know. But ya know how it is when diving the used CD bins. The selection at Second and Charles is kinda limited. Plus their organization is terrible, but it is what it is. I can't wait til next time I go to Japan. I'm gonna try to go to a Tsutaya and rent a bunch of stuff to rip. I did that the first time I went there but I probably ripped in low quality MP3 (՞⸝⸝o̴̶̷̥᷅ ̫ o̴̶̷̥᷅⸝⸝՞) plus I lost all those files a long time ago. They're probably laying around on a corrupted hard drive somewhere, idk. In Japan there are also a lot of cool used music shops that sell rare cuts you probably can't even get on streaming. Most definitly hitting some up next time.
But yeah, anyway. I got the new additions uploaded to my Evangelion DAP (Digital Audio Player), so I'm good to go. I'm actually listening to the Styx album AS WE SPEAK. It's aaight. Not gonna lie, I mainly got it for the album artwork though. It's very Vaporwave.
I wanna get some new IEMs (In ear monitors, for the un initiated. You probably call them 'in ear headphones' or something). I'm being fake pretentious though, I'm using the cheapest 'in ear headphones' I could find. I'll let yall know when I upgrade though.
